Anja Lehne. A woman with dark hair smiling and sitting on a red chair in a room with a beige wall and wall-mounted light, wearing a light blue striped shirt, black wide-leg pants, and sneakers.

I am the founder of an established interior design studio based in Hamburg, Germany. For many years, I have worked with private clients on sophisticated residential projects, with a strong focus on individuality, craftsmanship, and longevity.

Over time, South Africa became more than a destination, it became a second home. Spending extended periods here allowed me to fully engage with the landscape, the lifestyle, and the nuances of designing within this unique context.

Designing in South Africa requires a different mindset: distinct materials, varying availability, alternative workflows, and, above all, a deep respect for the local environment.

Today, I work closely with my colleague Alex, who is part of my German team of Anja Lehne fine interiors. With both South African and German roots, she grew up in South Africa and continues to move between the two countries.

Together, we work between Europe and South Africa, supporting international clients who may be unfamiliar with the local market and need a trusted partner — someone who understands both perspectives and can bridge the gap seamlessly.

What we do:

  • Create interiors that feel relaxed, warm, and personal

  • Sourcing, coordinating, and delivering furniture, fabrics, and finishes

  • Translating international expectations into a locally grounded design approach

  • Collaborating with trusted local craftsmen and suppliers

  • Managing complexity and guiding clients through every decision

We have designed and furnished a wide range of homes across South Africa, each shaped by its architecture, surroundings, and the people who live in it.

No two projects are ever the same.

Wherever you want to lay your head, we have your back every step of the way
